I was asked to put something together with an "Icy Mermaid".br/As familiar as these creatures seemed to me from our collective cultural conscience -- I had a terrible time making her anatomy look right. In the end she doesn't look as "Icy" as initially intended. She has a crown of sea urchins on her head, and a sash of kelp around her upper body. She's sitting on the "Too Far Out Buoy"... facing her is a pelican... and some swimmers are making their way across the Bay from Alcatraz. Notice Angel Island and the year 2011 peeking out from behind. : )br/br/It was a great swim and a fabulous meal was had afterward. Thank you South End!
